Warbird Experience flights

Ever fancied flying a piece of living history?

Although there are a few two seat fighters such as Spitfires and Mustangs residing in the UK, it's not usually possible to purchase filghts in these aeroplanes.

To offer flight experiences, the aircraft must hold a Civil Aviation Authority Public Transport Certificate of Airworthiness (C of A) or equivalent EASA C of A. All Spitfires and the majority of other warbirds are maintained on what is known as a Permit to Fly and this means that it is illegal to sell flight experiences in those aircraft. The pilot also needs to hold an Instructors Rating and a Commercial Pilots License to be able fly for "hire and reward".

However if you happen to know someone who owns a two seat Spitfire or Mustang, you may be lucky enough to get offered a trip! For the rest of us there are many places where you can get a taste of flying in an historic aircraft such as a Harvard or Tiger Moth. This page is a guide for those seeking that special memory of flying a real piece of history!
